Once upon a time there was a pandemic that struck the world and forced us to stay in our homes, people were compelled to distance themselves and everything that seemed normal to us ceased to be so. Fears, frustrations, anger, insecurities... were some of the emotions that took over us, and in some cases, still do. Our system has reached its limit and we do not know how we will continue.
A little lost and confused, at Fértil Discos we felt the need to give ourselves over to the inspiration (or its difficulties) that this process produced and we launched a space for exchange, to receive music created at this time. We realized that the prevailing idea of linear and productive time was, in part, the cause of the collapse. Being Fuera del Tiempo (Out of Time) invites us to think of a different time, to observe ourselves, stop and reflect ... In the bittersweet state of this pause, we await the emergence of a fertile void, to better understand who we are, where we are and where we go. Fuera del Tiempo brings together 19 postcards of a break. 18 songs and a bonus track, of electronic, composed by producers from different latitudes, and invites us to a quiet and thoughtful journey, with somewhat melancholic moods and, simultaneously, powerful landscapes to dance in. Participate in this collage Pol Nada, Jin Yerei, Barda, El Remolón, Marco Selvaggio, Mente Orgánica, Xanducero, Cuervo Cuervo, Leo Silcan, Bicho, Manu Ela, Lautaro González aka Shoao, Galo Vermelho, Tomás Batista, Relo, Damia, The Silly Tang ft. La Sardina, Enanomalhecho, Villa Diamante and the debut as a composer of Lavender & The Good Times.
La Mascarada, composed by Jin Yerei and featuring singer Pol Nada, will be the first single of Fuera del Tiempo. Postales de una Pausa", a compilation of songs produced during the quarantine and, published by Fertil Discos.
The song, a samba-like rhythm containing dark and reflexive textures, advices not to "hide your face, underneath the deluge", and is the first one of 19 tracks by producers of all around the globe. You can reach it in the air of www.radiorueda.com Longtime friends, work colleagues and old bandmates, the two CERN scientists S. Leontsinis and P. Vichoudis — originally from Greece, based in Switzerland — formed Haneke Twins and recorded their first EP in 2018. Haunting baritone vocals blended with eerie though catchy guitar licks resulted in a “Bauhaus/Joy Division meet Interpol” debut EP. Their new album "Astronaut", keeps the Post-Punk Revival feel but with a more “in-your- face” production. Sharp, edgy guitar lines, soothing yet haunting vocals and powerful, driving rhythmic architectures blend effortlessly to build little new wave gems. Lyrically, the band deals with subjects such as psychological quests, concerns about modern life as well as other social and political issues. “River” is about a person on the verge of suicide while “Location Unassigned” deals with concerns about modern life, freedom and privacy.
All music & lyrics for the 7 tracks of the album were written by Leontsinis & Vichoudis. The album was recorded at Dudu Loft studio, Athens, Greece in autumn 2019 and it was mixed, mastered and produced by Costas Verigas (from Greek post- rock band Afformance). The recordings also feature three talented musicians (and scientists!) that joined the band in 2019 for live performances (I. Koukovinis, A. Kyritsis & M. Schenk). |
